The Waterlily family (Nymphaeaceae) is a family of angiosperms. They are aquatic plants: the flowers and leaves float on the water, but the roots keep the plants in place. With about sixty species, this is a small family. The plants are found all over the world, outside the polar regions and deserts. In Flanders and the Netherlands the yellow lump (Nuphar lutea) and the white water lily (Nymphaea alba) occur naturally.
