Water basin at the Kuang Si waterfall, Laos.
The Kuang Si waterfall with its many plateaus is a well-known tourist attraction in Laos. It lies about 30 kilometers below Luang Prabang.
The waterfall is made of tuff. This is formed by the limestone water of the river leaving new layers of lime on organic material (moss, twigs, leaves). In the course of the centuries, limestone barriers can form, sometimes tens of metres high. Covered areas, tuff caves can be created. The Kuang si waterfall is one of the largest tuff waterfalls in Southeast Asia.
According to many, the waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world. This is mainly due to the striking blue water full of minerals. The waterfall consists of several plateaus, each of which is slightly different. In some parts you can swim.
