About ‘Waterfall in Plitvice Lakes National Park’ by Anges van der Logt

Plitvice Lakes National Park (Croatian: Nacionalni park Plitvička Jezera) is a national park in Lika-Senj province close to Plitvička Jezera in Croatia. A natural deposition process over thousands of years by the flowing waters of the Korana River has created dams of travertine in this area. These dams have in turn formed a number of lakes, caves and waterfalls. The park possesses 16 lakes with 90 waterfalls between them. The park's forest is home to bears, wolves and rare birds. The park was placed on UNESCO's World Heritage List of Protected Natural Areas in 1979. The Plitvice Lakes are divided into upper lakes (Gornja) and lower lakes (Donja) such as Lake Proscaroncanskog jezera and Lake Kozjak, among others. The largest lower lake is Jezero Milanovac this is about 470m long, 50-90m wide and 18m deep.
