Against a dark background, the illustration shows a waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus) standing on a round stone in half-back view. The colourful arm wings and the orange-red berry in the foreground provide colour accents that highlight the protagonist. As the central subject of the picture without any decorative accessories, the viewer's gaze is focussed on the figure of the winged animal, the mediator between heaven and earth.
