About "Weathered mooring posts at the Oyster Pit - North Beveland"

by Jan Jongejan

About the artwork

A hushed black-and-white impression of the Oesterput near Colijnsplaat on North Beveland. This photo shows a row of weathered mooring posts of an old, disused agricultural harbour. It is high tide, shortly after a shower, and the atmosphere is charged with stillness and reflection. The looming cloud sky reflects in the smooth surface of the water, creating an almost symmetrical image that radiates calm and melancholy.

The weathered poles tell the story of past activity and the power of time and nature. The choice of black and white enhances the contrast between the elements and emphasises texture and composition. This work grew out of a fascination with forgotten places and the beauty of Zeeland's landscape in its purest form.

This picture brings a subdued, contemplative atmosphere to any interior. Perfect for lovers of maritime history, minimalist art and the raw aesthetics of the coastal landscape. An ode to silence, water and transience.
