Well camouflaged in the green pool by Lakeside Explorer

This photograph shows a frog that blends in almost perfectly with its surroundings. Only its head protrudes from the pond among the water plants, algae and shimmering bubbles. The earthy brown and green tones of its body blend harmoniously with the murky water and dense algae – an impressive example of natural camouflage. Its alert eyes scan the surface of the water attentively, while the rest of its body remains motionless, hidden in the cool water. The interplay of light and shadow enhances the mysterious effect of the scene. The fine details of the skin structure, the reflections in the water and the bubbles on the surface give the image a special depth. The pond appears to be a small, self-contained ecosystem. Plants, microorganisms and amphibians form a fragile but functioning community here. The frog symbolises adaptability and patience – qualities that are clearly visible in this quiet, natural environment. The photograph captures a moment of tranquillity in which nature and animals appear in perfect harmony. It shows how skilfully living creatures integrate into their habitat and impressively reveals the often hidden beauty of small bodies of water.
