About ‘Where the Sea Meets Aruba’ by Anouk

Aruba is of course famous for its white beaches and calm, crystal-clear water. But on the other side of the island, the sea shows a completely different personality. Here, waves crash against the rocky coastline with plenty of force and the water is constantly moving.

During our trip around Aruba, I really loved this contrast. The warm reddish-brown rocks stand out beautifully against the deep blue and turquoise tones of the Caribbean Sea. Between the darker rocks, the bright white foam of the waves keeps appearing before disappearing again moments later.

This was one of those places where I could easily stand and watch for quite a while. Every wave arrives slightly differently, changing the scene for a few seconds before the water pulls back into the sea.

For me, this photograph shows a side of Aruba that is just as beautiful as its famous beaches. It may be less calm and picture-perfect, but it is powerful, rocky and full of movement. A place where you really get to see how much energy is hidden inside that beautiful blue Caribbean Sea.
