White butterfly meets purple lavender is a watercolour painting in portrait format by the artist Karen Kaspar. Lavender plants sway in the wind in a summer garden. The wonderfully fragrant flowers in shades of pink and purple attract insects and butterflies. In this painting, a delicate cabbage white butterfly has settled on a lavender flower to snack on the delicious nectar.
When I walk through the garden in early summer, I enjoy the wonderfully relaxing scent of the beautiful lavender flowers. I listen to the birds singing and the bees humming and enjoy watching the beautiful butterflies dancing around the purple flowers of the lavender. These white butterflies often visit my lavender, so I couldn't resist capturing them in this watercolour painting. I also painted a version with soft pastels (see my album of flower paintings). 159
