Wild Heart by Deborah Bee Atelier

Some flowers don’t set out to stand out, but they do all the same. In the middle of a field full of greenery, a poppy suddenly appears. Free, powerful and full of life. It was precisely that effortless beauty that inspired me when creating Wild Heart.

During my walks, I am constantly drawn to flowers that grow wherever they please. Without haste, without rules and completely in harmony with nature. I wanted to capture that sense of freedom in this painting.

Using warm shades of red and orange, playful splashes of paint and loose lines, I made the poppy almost dance across the canvas. The transparent layers lend a sense of airiness and movement, whilst the dark centre of the flower adds strength and character. The result is a painting that radiates both energy and gentleness.

As a beekeeper, I see just how important wild flowers are for bees and other pollinators. A poppy may be fragile, but together with all the other flowers, it forms an indispensable link in nature’s chain. That realisation makes every walk special for me and forms the basis of my work.

‘Wild Heart’ is an ode to the great outdoors and to the strength to remain true to oneself. I hope this painting reminds you that it is precisely through spontaneity, simplicity and freedom that the most beautiful stories are born. A warm eye-catcher that brings colour, energy and a touch of summery wonder into your home.
