The Hollandsche Teekenmaatschappij was an international artists' society founded and headquartered in The Hague on 31 January 1876, whose aim was to promote the recognition of watercolour as a work of art in its own right and to raise awareness of it. To achieve this, the society organised an exhibition every year.
Jan Willem (Willy) Sluiter (Amersfoort, 24 May 1873 - The Hague, 22 May 1949) was a Dutch painter, draughtsman and graphic designer. Willy grew up in Heerenveen and Zwijndrecht. He developed into a painter and draughtsman of political prints, made posters and carried out advertising commissions.
