Cripple beeches (also known as Süntel beeches) in the Semper Forest Park near Lietzow on the island of Rügen. The ten cripple beeches are a very rare mutation of the Fagus Sylvatica variety Suentelensis, were planted in 1920 and are protected as a natural monument. In the dark and in the fog, they are certainly scary, as myriads of midges are the real terror in this area...
