A historical view of a mill in South Holland. The Vrouw Vennemolen in Oud Ade is a characteristic polder mill that graces the Dutch landscape. Located on the Kagerplassen, this windmill plays an important role in the water management of the Vrouw Vennepolder. Originally built to grind excess water from the polder, the mill is still in operation today and a wonderful example of Dutch water management.
Surrounded by vast meadows, narrow waterways and reed beds, Vrouw Vennemolen exudes timeless tranquillity. The turning sails reflect in the water, while birds such as lapwings and herons bring the area to life. Cyclists and walkers enjoy the idyllic views and unique atmosphere of the Green Heart here.
This monumental mill is not only a functional icon, but also a piece of living history that reflects the power and innovation of Dutch water management. A visit to the Vrouw Vennemolen is a journey back in time, in the middle of the Dutch polder landscape.
