An old mastic grows on a rock. Its strong root is partly above ground and enchants with its intertwined forms. Wood and rock unite.
This mastic is a very special tree that grows above the spring called Font de la Mata. This tree is said to be the oldest of its kind growing on the Spanish mainland. In this sense, this photograph should be dedicated to the powerful root, as well as the cool and relaxing ambience at the fountain. A very charming place near the small town of Gata de Gorgos.
I see old wood structures and roots as symbols of longevity, strength and endurance - but also of grace and aging.
This close-up shot is inspired by long hikes on remote trails in the Alicante province in Spain. When I hike through forests and explore beautiful places in the middle of nature, I am particularly fascinated by old trees and weathered rock formations. When resting in the semi-shade of tall trees, feelings of originality and serenity are omnipresent. The timeless beauty of nature is often revealed in the details and in hidden places.
