About the artwork

The UK's largest Gothic cathedral towers beautifully above the city's rooftops. From all directions, York Minster can therefore be clearly seen. A handy navigation point, but also definitely a beautiful landmark itself.

York Minster
The cathedral does not stand in the middle of the old city, but on the edge near Bootham Bar (a gate in the city wall). Some impressive facts... York Minster has no less than three towers, one of which is 71 metres and two of which are 56 metres. The church contains the largest medieval stained glass in the country (among many other beautiful windows). The Chapter House was built in 1280 and in1297 used as the location for King Edward I's parliament. At that time, not all of York Minster as it is today was finished, construction was from the 11th to the 15th century. The full title of York Minster is The Cathedral and Metropolitan Church of Saint Peter in York.

In addition, important people have had themselves captured in the church as a statue in a praying position.
