Akureyri is a city in northern Iceland. It is the fourth largest city in the country by population, but is the only larger city outside the Reykjavik region. Akureyri is located on the Eyjafjörður, which means "island fjord" in this fjord lies the island of Hrísey. Akureyri is also sometimes called the 'capital of the north'.
