Our photo shows young, not yet fledged eagle owls on their nest in an old oak tree in the middle of the forest. The nest is an ancient goshawk eyrie, which was taken over by the eagle owls. With big eyes, one of the young eagle owls looks almost a little discontentedly in the direction of the camera. The triggering sounds of a previous recording have probably not escaped his fine hearing.
The captivating eye contact speaks directly to the viewer. Yet there is much to discover in the richly detailed image. The beautiful surroundings and the natural colors complement the very good overall impression. The rather dark exposure suits the predominantly crepuscular and nocturnal owls perfectly.
