The Dokkumer Ee (officially, Frisian: Dokkumer Ie, [dɔkəmər'i.ə]?) is a tow canal in Friesland, between the towns of Leeuwarden and Dokkum. It crosses (and forms municipal boundaries with) the municipalities of Leeuwarden, Tietjerksteradeel, Dantumadeel and Noardeast-Fryslân.
This used to be an important shipping connection for transporting raw materials and materials in northern Friesland, but now mainly has a function for pleasure boats as a connection between Leeuwarden and the Wadden Sea (connecting via the Dokkumergrootdiep, Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen and the Lauwersmeer).
To the north, the Dokkumer Ee calls at the following towns and hamlets (including mention crossing): Leeuwarden (Noorderbrug, Eebrug), Snakkerburen, Lekkum, Miedum, Wijns (cycle and foot ferry in summer), Tichelwerk, Bartlehiem, Tergracht, Birdaard (Steenhuizerbrug, Kolkhuizerbrug), Sijbrandahuis/Raard(Klaarkampsterbrug) and Dokkum (Eebrug, Altenabrug).
The Dokkumer Ee is connected to the following canals: Jelsumervaart, Cornjumervaart, Finkumervaart, Oudkerkstervaart, Hallumertrekvaart, Stienservaart, Contributionvaart, Holwerdervaart, Raardervaart and Foudgumervaart.
