The Caelifera are a suborder of insects belonging to the order Orthoptera (right winged) or crickets and grasshoppers. The group is also known as the true locusts or short locusts, because they have relatively short antennas compared to the only other group of right-wing, Ensifera or longitudinal locusts. The latter group includes all sable grasshoppers and crickets.
