The common lizard is a smaller of the lizard species found in Europe. Compared to the fence lizard, for example, its appearance is less plump, the head appears somewhat shorter and also the tail is somehow more compact - it appears thicker than that of the fence lizard and is much shorter than that of the wall lizard, which also appears slimmer overall than the wood lizard.
