About ‘maastricht’ by anne droogsma

Maastricht originated at a ford in the Meuse River, from which it takes its name (Maastricht = Mosa Trajectum = passage through the Meuse). Maastricht has been inhabited continuously for two thousand years,[1] and the city has a long and eventful history, to which the numerous historic buildings and art treasures in churches and museums attest. Internationally, the city gained great fame through the Maastricht Treaty (1992), which created the European Union in its present form and paved the way for the introduction of the euro as the European currency.

The city is often seen as "foreign" in the rest of the Netherlands, mainly because of its peripheral location close to Belgium and Germany, but also because of its atypical landscape, Maasland house construction, anomalous history, complicated language situation, dominance of Catholicism (formerly more so than now), strong emphasis on community life (brass bands, carnival, processions) and alleged Burgundian lifestyle.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
