A closeup of a decaying leaf of a Hydrangea This image was created during my project Leftovers: The project was on display in den Haag during the exhibition at the Atrium. (Dec 22/Jan 23) "My father was offered to the Salvation Army as a six-week-old baby ; his mother, my grandmother, had fallen in love with a German soldier in 1942. In those days, it was a disgrace anyway to get pregnant unmarried let alone from a German soldier. Moreover, my grandmother came from an upper-class family . It was immediately clear that my father was not wanted in that environment My father used to talk a lot about his childhood in the Salvation Army orphanage but he never showed his sadness. And how did his mother feel? She came by every now and then to see how her little son was doing. She had to give up my father because her mother wanted her to.A terrible story ...I went looking. Looking for the feeling of relinquishing and holding. Mother and child. What if that bond is broken? "This image fits any interior
