About the artwork

room with stairs_HMS:A villa or country house is a detached house. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the name country house was usually used for large country houses in a landscaped environment. At the end of the nineteenth century also came into vogue the name villa. The name is derived from the Roman villa.

In the fifteenth century wealthy Italian merchants began to build large country houses outside the city, then called houses of plaisance or pleasure courts. In the Southern Netherlands these also appeared in the first quarter of the sixteenth century, especially around Antwerp (e.g. the Sterckshof). In the Northern Netherlands such country houses were introduced in the Golden Age. In England and France, the Italian-style country house did not make its mark until the eighteenth century.

The larger eighteenth- and nineteenth-century country houses were often built in a neo-classicist style or in the much more irregular English country house style, in which the floor plans show a free and functional arrangement of the rooms. this representation is in english style .

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
