Foxglove (Digitalis) is a genus from the plantain family (Plantaginaceae). The genus has more than 22 biennial and multiannual species worldwide. The genus occurs naturally in Europe, North Africa and western Asia. The botanical name Digitalis means finger and that name is given because the flower fits around the human finger. The Dutch name is derived from the shape of the flower, which looks like a thimble.
Common features are tubular or funnel-shaped two-lip flowers that are in large clusters. The species thrive best in the partial shade on humus-rich, well-draining soil. The color of the flowers can vary from white via light pink to purple and yellow.
" It makes me happy to create memories "
I love to photograph in the French or Dutch countryside. Forests, countryside or by the sea. But also cities, towns and villages (especially in France) are my favorites.
Best regards ! Yvonne..
