About ‘the fossil era’ by SchraMedia

Photographed the active Uniper coal-fired power station on a stormy blue overcast afternoon at Maasvlakte II (Rotterdam, the Netherlands). This is one of the last active coal-fired power stations in the Netherlands and is a symbol of the fossil era that is slowly coming to an end. On the left in the foreground the APM container terminal.

The original photo has been digitally manipulated with a palette knife, making it look like a painting. Despite this artistic effect, the image is characterized by a high dynamic range and a lot of detail.

The camera used is a professional 50mp full frame Canon EOS 5Ds with 70-200mm f/4L IS II lens. Thanks to this combination and the skill of the photographer the image is also very suitable for sharp giant prints.
