De Kwade Hoek, located on Goeree-Overflakkee, is a dynamic nature reserve where the influence of the tides is clearly visible. This rugged, untouched coastal landscape is shaped by the constant interaction between ebb and flood. During low tide, sandbanks and mudflats are exposed, providing rich feeding grounds for numerous species of birds and small marine animals. At high tide, the sea flows back into the area, constantly changing the coastline. The tidal action ensures that nature in the Kwade Hoek is constantly on the move. Salt-loving plants, such as glasswort and sea lavender, thrive here and give the area a distinctive colour in certain seasons. The dynamics of the sea create a unique environment where hikers and nature lovers can experience the power of nature.
The combination of rugged terrain and the influence of the tide makes Kwade Hoek a special and adventurous nature area, where natural processes have free rein.
