About ‘trees in their autumn finery’ by Pieter Muller
Three trees in their autumn finery. As the trees in the foreground had taken on a reddish hue, I chose to use a red filter. This allowed me to emphasise them more. Photographed in analogue on black-and-white film.

Photographing in black and white allows me to bring out the subject of a photograph more effectively. My favourite subjects are landscapes, flowers and (old) buildings.
I photograph almost exclusively on black-and-white film. For this, I use a Hasselblad or a large-format (4x5 inch) camera. Despite years of experience, every time I develop a roll of film, it remains exciting to see whether the idea I had when taking the shot has actually been captured on the negative.
