Crete
The Greek island of Crete is located in the Mediterranean Sea and is the fifth largest island there. It is about 160 km from the mainland. Crete is the largest of the Greek islands. Gavdos, the southernmost point of Europe is on Crete. The landscape is attractive with its specific flora and fauna. Crete has four mountain ranges, the Ida Mountains, the White Mountains (Lefka Ori), the Dikti Mountains and the smallest, the Thripti Mountains. The climate corresponds to a uniform Mediterranean climate. Crete is so popular with holidaymakers because it is the sunniest island in the Mediterranean and guarantees holidays with 300 days of sunshine a year.
