ARTIST STATEMENT GLAMOROUS All of my life I have travelled to different continents thus experiencing almost simultaneous season changes and I have lived at different locations around the world each with their own unique and completely different lighting and different landscape colours. Much of my life has been spent very close to water. At every place there is a certain falling of light that clothes nature in pure sparkling glamour, whether this is the glitter path of the setting or rising sun over the sea or the autumn light turning waning leaves into golden coats for the trees or the movement of the sun around a secret garden turning each highlighted area into a very special warm treasure or the beach that turns into pure gold as the sun sets – each of these with their own glistening highlights. Each of these special glamorous moments of nature has energized me and drawn me to peaceful and warming reflection. And watching the light change I have been led to moving thought by its seamless flow of changing glory. Dressing to go to gala events my mirror image bathed in different light reminded me of the glitter sparkle of all the places I have seen and inspired me to go back in my mind and paint the source of all glamour – nature in the adornment of the ever-changing almost musical dazzle of glittery light and captivating colour that gives air to the soul.
