In dit album tref je foto's aan van helikopters. Een helikopter, wentelwiek of hefschroefvliegtuig is een vliegtuig met één of twee grote rotor(en) met een verticale as. Helikopters hebben ten opzichte van gewone vliegtuigen (enkele uitzonderingen daargelaten) het voordeel dat ze verticaal kunnen opstijgen en landen, waardoor ze geen start- en landingsbaan nodig hebben. Verder kunnen ze in de lucht stil hangen en zijwaarts en achteruit vliegen. Ze worden daarom veel ingezet bij reddingsacties. Helikopters worden gebruikt door krijgsmachten voor het vervoer van manschappen en materieel en binnen de burgerluchtvaart voor bijvoorbeeld het vervoer van passagiers van en naar offshore-installaties en schepen.
