Ir. Woudagemaal

The Ir. D.F. Woudagemaal is the largest, working steam pumping station ever built in the world. The pumping station is located in Lemmer near Tacozijl in Friesland. It is used on average once every two years during periods with a lot of rain and wind, to keep the Frisian water at the required level. The pumping station has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1998. It is one of the top 100 Dutch national monuments.
