Audubon is a famous artist in the field of the bird in the visual arts. He painted birds in time for the camera and observed and illustrated the birds in their natural environment. John James Audubon (born Jean Rabin, 1785 - 1851) was an American ornithologist, naturalist and painter. Remarkable are the extensive studies of all types of American birds, the detailed illustrations depicting the birds in their natural habitats. His main work, The Birds of America (1827-1839), is considered to be one of the most beautiful ornithological works ever made.
