Linda's riot of colour

This week, we're taking a look at Linda's place. You may know her from her Instagram account @deense_zomer. She lives with her husband, two daughters and a dog in a detached '70s house in Hardegarijp, the Netherlands. When Linda and her husband bought the house from the original owners a few years back, the whole place was decked out in ‘70s style, including retro blue bathroom, exposed brickwork, terracotta floor tiles and aluminium window frames. Linda: "I adore furniture from this era, but it was a little too much for me. In a few months, we'd renovated and modernised the whole house, and we did a lot of that ourselves."

Queen of Colour

When you step inside Linda's place, you're immediately hit with a riot of colour. Linda calls herself the "Queen of Colour" and she means it. There isn't a white wall in sight. Linda: "I always hope that I'll inspire people by using more colours and matching together cool elements in my interiors. By combining totally unique, non-obvious colour combinations with art, you end up with a one-of-a-kind personalised space." Linda and her husband renovated the '70s house themselves to a large extent. The black kitchen is really eye-catching and it was also the most expensive part of the renovation. "To achieve my dream kitchen, we needed to add an extension. I really wanted lots of space to do things and with over 4 metres of worktop, I definitely got that!"

Scandinavian chique and fun

According to Linda, it's hard to categorise her interior design style. She describes it as Scandinavian, chic and fun. Linda is a big fan of Scandinavian design and she also really likes to have colour, art and striking items in her interiors. "With me, you'll notice it's not just the floors that are colourful, it's the ceilings too." Linda considers herself a really lucky person. "Obviously, we have differences in taste every now and then." But Linda thinks the most important thing is that everyone feels at home in the house and like they can really live there. "Everyone's used to my extravagant displays of colour by now and they don't seem surprised anymore."

The family's favourite

Linda always includes her family in her choices, so everyone was in agreement about the artwork on the wall. She went for the piece "Vandalism I" by Jonas Loose. "Firstly, it was because the colour palette goes so well with our interior, but secondly it was the clever twist that this piece has. It has a really fun effect and it's a piece of art you can't ignore."
