About Alexandra de Steur
I have been drawing all my life. Through self-study, various workshops and courses, I have arrived at the botanical impressions I make today. Through my walks through woods and city parks, I see how some plants transform into a new shape and colour. By taking the plants out of their context, they take on a dynamic of their own. Separated from the whole, you see their own and unique beauty.
The series 'Big Horseshoe' shows the many phases this plant goes through. It is the story of passing seasons. The drawings were made with coloured pencil on (hot pressed) watercolour paper.
