Doornroosje Design is the work of Margreet Bekker from Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
Having grown up in an idyllic house named Doornroosje ( the Sleeping Beauty, in Dutch) it is not surprising that she likes to look for the magic in everyday things, creating her own fairy tales.
She takes inspiration from the things she sees around her, from the fruit basket on the table to a mosaic floor while travelling. And, of course, from her three cats who keep her company while she works.
Margreet likes to work with lino prints. She draws a design and gouges it out in linoleum, then uses ink to make prints of it. This creates standalone illustrations as well as patterns by repeating the print.
Although she works with different styles, materials and themes, her work is always recognisable by the strong lines and vibrant colours she uses.
Her works fit into any interior, from children's rooms and kitchens to offices, due to their diverse subject matter.
