Originally from Indonesia I have spent my childhood in Holland and have now for over 40 years, made my home in the south of Spain.I have always loved drawing and am a self taught painter, which means I am continually learning with everything I paint.I believe in the healing power and the goodness of imagination. I love painting animals especially cats and owls because of their mysterious nature, but all animals are special to me because they represent the innocence and goodness of spirit.I also paint portraits; sometimes a I am commissioned to do a portrait of a child or a beloved pet.Most of the scenes I paint exist only in my mind and express the way I see the world or how I would like the world to be. I like to use vivid colours rather than muted ones, perhaps because here in the south the colours are normally very bright, almost sub-tropical. I paint every day because I need to and I love to. It gives me a lot of satisfaction when others get pleasure and joy from looking at my creations.
My paintings cannot be called naïf, but they are colourful and some have a playful almost childish feel to them.
