About Hanneke Louwerse
I’m Hanneke: an artist, illustrator, behavioural scientist and photographer.
My work stems from a curious view of the world around me. I am constantly on the lookout for beauty, atmosphere and small details that are easily overlooked in everyday life. Whether I’m painting, illustrating or taking photographs, my work revolves around capturing a feeling and creating an image that evokes a sense of calm, wonder or recognition.
As an artist, I enjoy working with colour, form and natural elements. My paintings are often organic and contemporary, with a tranquil quality and a strong connection to nature. In my illustrations, I seek simplicity and imagination.
Photography is also an important way in which I observe and create. I love capturing special moments, landscapes, architecture and details, and turning them into images that also come into their own in an interior setting.
My background as a behavioural scientist plays a role in this, albeit in the background. I’m interested in how people experience their surroundings and the influence that images, colours and spaces can have on us.
Above all, through my work I aim to add something beautiful to the space where it hangs – an image you can look at time and time again, one that evokes a particular atmosphere.
