I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. It all started in a very classical way, with pencil, charcoal and oil paint, during my studies at the Wackers Academy in Amsterdam. That foundation is still very much part of my work, even now that it is free to move in many different directions.
Standing still in my work is not something I do well. I enjoy working on my iPad just as much as painting on canvas, and more recently I have been painting on wood finished with epoxy — because some ideas simply call for more layers. What emerges is constantly changing, but the process remains the same: staying curious, observing, experimenting. You will find this diversity reflected in my work here; the pieces differ from each other like day and night.
I now live and work in Spain, on the edge of the Sierra Espuña nature reserve. The light here is relentlessly honest and at the same time warm. You can see it in my work: more colour, more space, more sun.
