Jan Bouma was already creative with photography and other visual creations at the age of 9. Always eager to learn, he set out on a journey of discovery that started with a discarded analogue Minolta SLR. A path that eventually led to a wanderlust filled with photography of beautiful places and intriguing cultures.
Along the way, he certainly did not shy away from the darkroom, but was delighted with the entry and development of digital photography. It did not stop at just photography: Digital editing and the possibilities of creating digital art using vector, photo editing programmes, 3D rendering and lately AI have his full attention and dedication.
Can enjoy a good conversation with his partner, a glass of wine and can regularly be found outside in the woods photographing mushrooms.
His photos have won awards several times over time.
Most exciting photo-shoot: Photographing Indian Agori. The only remaining sect derived from the monastic order of the medieval Shaivite sadhus. These men smear their bodies with cremated people's ashes and make jewellery and skull cups from human bones. Until recently, they were even known for their cannibalism!
