My path into nature photography began with insects, plants and fungi. Later I concentrated on landscape photography, where the effect of a scene varies greatly depending on the lighting conditions, weather and season. I find my motifs in the region, because then I am quickly on location at the right lighting conditions. For me, photography is more than the mechanical transcription of nature. The focus is not on the factual reproduction of a specific place, but on a subjective interpretation of the scenery.
I found great inspiration in the pictorialists of the early 20th century, who developed photography into a new art form. Carefully arranged landscape photographs with a classical pictorial composition were to stand in a row with paintings.
