28 artworks from Koen Haarbosch.
My name is Koen Haarbosch (born 1976, Gilze, The Netherlands).
In August 2018 I quit my job to follow my creative dream. But it was only after my mother died of breast cancer in January 2020 that I finally found the courage and inspiration to pursue this dream.
For me, making art is playing. If my thinking doesn't hinder my creation, I can just let everything flow.
I hope that my lively and playful art can reshape the world with a sense of joy and childlike wonder.
My work is influenced by graffiti, cartoons, comics, pop art and urban street art. But I am also influenced by artists like Paul Klee, Joan Miro, Keith Haring, Jean Michel Basquiat, Roy Lichtenstein, Jon Burgerman and the CoBra art movement.
Music is very important to me and my work. Music is always on during my work. I appreciate a lot of styles. It depends on my mood and the time of day. I love to start my mornings with 80's hip hop and 70's funk. But if working on my art gives me that energy boost, I can easily switch to Techno and Old School Rave.
Making my art is always an interaction between my music and me. I am the quiet type, a cheerful introvert person. I enjoy silence, meditation, sports, healthy food, my family and a simple life.
