I am a visual artist and painter in acrylic and oil paint. Besides painting I have been photographing manhole covers in various countries since 2008. At that time I painted a lot of circles and so I noticed the manhole covers with their round shapes. And how beautiful they are! And how special they are sometimes in the way or on the pavement. Then I started to edit these manhole covers on the computer. So many colors and color variations you can give them. This way the dull grey manhole covers suddenly become true works of art. Very special to hang a coloured manhole cover on the wall. Especially for Werk aan de Muur I put together my first collection of manhole covers based on water, the water covers.
