8 artworks from Marcel Klever.
1991 Marcel was trained at the Utrecht School of the Arts as an interior designer and furniture designer. The class of free painting was then enthusiastically followed.
'As a painter you can talk through your paintings. You can convey a story or evoke emotions through images. For me, paint, brushes and canvas are just tools to generate these emotions or stories and bring them to life. When I paint, my mind directs the tools to the end result.
Patterns and structures that appear on my canvases come from somewhere. Where I myself may have limited influence. Structures and patterns I make, no one else makes. They follow a certain recognizable rhythm, which is present somewhere in me as energy. I let it come into being and find ultimate satisfaction in it. Thinking too much does not work for me but the conscious feeling may not be disconnected from the canvas. Only then will coherent patterns emerge that are aesthetic and in balance.
In 2019 Marcel started to paint more seriously alongside his work as a designer.
