About Silva Wischeropp
Silva Wischeropp was born in Wismar. She now lives and works in Berlin, where she is an art teacher at a state-run European school. She has been deeply involved in photography for around 20 years and is active as a photographic artist both nationally and internationally. Her work has been published extensively and featured in numerous exhibitions. As a passionate travel photographer, Wischeropp focuses her lens on street life, urban landscapes, forgotten places and nature. Her photographic practice is characterised by a search for special moments and visual situations hidden within everyday life. Since 2016, she has expanded her artistic repertoire to include surreal digital photo collages, in which she reinterprets photographic reality and transforms it into distinct visual worlds. For Silva, the photographic process is both a field of work and an expression of her personal engagement with the world. Her themes range from social and political issues to human needs, perceptions and sensibilities. She regards the camera as a tool that broadens her perspective and enables her to view reality from unfamiliar angles. For Silva, photography means seeing, perceiving and consciously pausing. It sharpens her eye for fleeting moments, hidden connections and visual situations that often elude immediate perception.
