The predilection for photography starts early anyway, when I was 12 we moved house and I can still remember exploring the area with my father's camera, an agfa clack... and everything in black and white. I still have most of the photos and even then I could see that I did have an eye for photography....
My education also had a lot in common with art, culture and line play cq compositions...a painting and drawing course in Zwolle...half an hour by train from Deventer. On the way, I enjoyed the view, the early light in the morning, the dew over the meadows, etc.
That love for nature has remained...I like to go out, together with my dog we walk many kilometres through woods and fields, enjoying nature, especially the rays of light through the trees, or just looking for beautiful moments.
The reason why I started photographing again 15 years ago was more on the advice of my wife, and I have to tell you honestly, I am very grateful to her for that...My work requires a lot of (mental) energy, I more or less made my hobby (drawing and designing) my work and have been a designer at a cardboard factory since 1984, designing displays and packaging for the national and international market. As a result, I was under time pressure a lot, often and for a long time, which made it difficult for me to relax..sports help but so does photography!
Particularly the peace and quiet in nature also calmed my head..and the distraction in particular was a pleasant bonus.
