A Vision of Paradise is a painting from my series of landscapes inspired by wildfires happening all over the world.
This painting depicts a beautiful tropical landscape from Amazon being engulfed in smoke and fire burning in the distance.
This painting, as well as the others from this series, was inspired by fires in Amazon in 2019. Watching the stories on TV and social media I was deeply shaken by the gorgeous rainforests vanishing in flames. The fact that the fires were mainly caused by humans was even more disturbing. This painting was painted after photographs of burning the Amazon, but later on, more wildfires followed in different countries and I continued working with this subject and using photo documentation from other places as well.
I hope that by painting this subject of fires and global warming consequences can be informative for the viewers and act as a call to action for people to pay closer attention to this topic.
A Vision of Paradise is painted on canvas, 80x100cm in size, with oil colors. I used multiple layers of oil paint to create the atmosphere and depth in the painted scene.
