About the artwork

A big, tough tugboat

A big, tough tug battles its way through the storm on the New Waterway. The bow rises powerfully from the high waves, foam heads slapping against the steel. Wind howls across the deck, rain lashes along the superstructure. Between the piers of Hoek van Holland and the Maasvlakte, the crew braves the rough sea. With skill and determination, they escort a cargo ship safely to the port of Rotterdam - where shelter and rest await after the rough ride.

Port photography is a fascinating form of photography that focuses on capturing the activity in ports. Port cities are often bustling centres of commerce and industry, where ships, trucks and trains move in and out to load and unload goods. This offers photographers the opportunity to capture beautiful images of large ships docked at the quayside, crane machines loading and unloading containers from and onto the ships, and workers busy at work. Port photography can be challenging, as there is often a lot of movement and activity, and the light is constantly changing. But when the right moments are captured, port photo's can produce impressive and inspiring images.

Ship Viewer_Port Photography; raw and honest, just like the port itself. A collection of great ships and details, seafaring, inland navigation, fishing and port industry.

Port photos's on the wall of the living room office or study. Also wall-filling as wallpaper!
