In the province of Groningen in Schildwolde across the Afwateringskanaal and near the Sans Souci pumping station is the Schildjer Tilbat, a high wooden bicycle bridge. Located southwest of the Schildmeer, the bridge was built in 2009 to enable a cycle route around the Schildmeer. The bridge is named after the nearby town of Schildwolde (Schildjer) and Tilbat is a Groningen word for drawbridge. I took the photo on a beautiful misty morning with a beautiful sunrise. The contours of the bridge blur in the dense fog, creating a fairy-tale atmosphere. In the foreground, weeds or also called Flutesweeds can be seen which frame the misty scene nicely. A single tree on the left side of the bridge stands out sharply against the light background, while the horizon in the distance shows a subpar glow of pink and orange. The serene and somewhat mysterious look of the photo emphasises the peaceful beauty of the Groningen landscape around Schildwolde. I converted the photo to black and white.
