During a hike through a high moor in Norway, we were followed by a loud call and didn't know what it was or where it was coming from for a long time. Suddenly we discovered this small bird among the bushes, which kept following us. This behaviour is typical of this migratory bird. When enemies approach, a parent lures the enemies out of their territory. They then draw all attention to themselves by calling. We were not only fascinated by the courage of the Golden Plover, but also by its extraordinary plumage, which has not only white and black spots, but also bright yellow ones. In this picture, the lapwing-like bird is standing to the side of us and keeps calling out in warning. Of course, we only stopped to take a picture and then moved on. In a second picture, you can see how it stops after a few metres and observes us very calmly and attentively, looking into the camera (in the gallery 'Free as a bird' by Leny Silina Helmig).
