A seagoing vessel is moored in the lock

A sea-going vessel is moored in the lock, its massive bow pressing threateningly against the dark water. The round bulb protrudes forcefully forward, the anchors hang heavily in their vaults, rust marks run down the steel like weathered veins. The sky is grey, the day gloomy, the grey light enhancing the roughness of the image. In the salty waters of the harbour, seafaring shows its traces: steel tarnished by the elements, ships bearing scars from distant voyages. It is precisely in that weathered skin that the beauty lies - a raw, industrial art that lends itself to being captured in photographs.
