This work is part of the series "A tree in layers", in which I depict the layering of a tree in a special way. In this series, I depict not only the tree as a whole, but also the texture and details of its bark, creating a fusion between the big picture and the smallest structures.
Trees carry their history in layers: annual rings tell of growth periods, while the bark reveals scars of time and circumstances. Putting these elements together in one composition creates a layered portrait of the tree, revealing both its strength and fragility. The rough patterns of the bark, the subtle nuances of colour and the whimsical shapes show how a tree grows, protects itself and is constantly changing.
With this series, I want to show not only the beauty of trees, but also the stories hidden in their bark. The structures and patterns are like a natural fingerprint, unique to each tree and shaped by time. This work invites the viewer to look beyond the outside and delve into the layers that make up the essence of the tree.
